Sending a LetterIt's always best to put a request for repairs in writing. The Texas Tenant Advisor has a form letter that you can use or you can write a letter of your own. In Task Four, you will be writing a form letter and your own letter. These letters are only for practice. However, if you are currently having a problem in your rental property, go ahead and write a real letter! Steps1. Click on the following link to access a form letter. I recommend that you print out the PDF version and write in the blanks. However, the second option, the RTF file, allows you to download the text and type in your information. 2. Once you have the form printed or ready to be typed into, choose a practice repair problem to write about. Research information about your actual landlord for the letter. You may need this information in the future. Each partner will write his or her own letter. 3. Once your form letter is complete, put it in a white #10 envelope and put your teacher's name on the front. Put the letter on your teacher's desk. If you will be using this letter for a real problem, write a second version and mail it to your landlord via certified mail. 4. Next you will write your own letter. Go to UsingEnglish.com to learn about writing letters. 5. In the space below, write the content of a letter with your partner. Do NOT write the name or address of your actual landlord in this space, as this will be posted online. This exercise is only to practice writing about repair problems. List a different problem in this letter than the letter you wrote above. Give details about what is wrong and what you need to be fixed. Use your dictionary and be creative. Note: Upon pressing "submit" you will see the information you sent. Click the browser back button to return to the Web site.
