Practice Makes Perfect

Now comes the opportunity to write a dialogue between a renter and a landlord. Once written, you and your partner will memorize the lines and perform the dialogue for the class. Follow the steps below:

Steps:

1. Imagine that you are going to speak with your landlord about a problem you are having in your apartment. What would you say? What would the landlord say?

2. Write a dialogue between a landlord and a tenant. Choose a setting for the dialogue. Is it in an office? In the parking lot? In your apartment?

3. Show how you would politely greet the landlord and what you would say about your repair problem and your rights.

4. Be sure that the tenant asks the landlord when repairs will be completed.

5. Show how the conversation would end.

6. Memorize the dialogue with your partner. You will perform this dialogue for the class.

7. Use props such as hats and tools to make your dialogue fun and exciting.
